SCATTERED RAIHS LIKELY The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers* Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Halfmoon Bay:— Pressure is still high to the east Sufi relatively low over the Tasman Sea and the South Island. An extensive and intense anti-cyclone covers Australia. Forecast: Light, to moderate, but occasionally freshening, northerly to west* erly winds, backing at times to southwesterlies. Weather cloudy, to overcast, and some scattered rains probable. Temperatures moderate. Seas slight to moderate, but occasionally increasing in Foveaux Strait. MILD DAY. Rainfall amounting to ,05in was registered at the Gardens over a period of 24 hours yesterday, but, though the sky was moderately overcast early, the sun appeared at noon, and no further falls took place. There was a light southwesterly breeze at midday. Temperatures were mild. The maximum at. the Gardens was Sl.ldeg, and the minimum 48.3 deg, as compared with 55deg and 40.8 deg yesterday over 24 hours. Barometric pressure was rising at 29.95 in at, noon.
