TOWN HALL DANCE

Last Saturday night the first heat of the 1938 Town Hall championship was held. The entries far exceeded expectations. The judges, Mr George Cos and Mr S. Brown, representing Miss Wallace’s Dancing Studio, had no easy task in selecting the winners, for all the entrants revealed a high standard and thorough understanding of the present-day style of ballroom dancing. On Saturday night the second heat will be held, and this will give the couples who were not selected a further chance of qualifying for the final. The winners of the final will again this year be sent to Australia, all expenses being paid, to represent the Town Hall dance in the Australasian championship to be held in Melbourne at the end of the year, when prize money totalling £SOO will be distributed. The dance to-morrow night will be held in the Concert Chamber. The hall, bcilng heated throughout, offers every comfort to patrons. Music will he supplied by the Savonia Dance Band, with Jimmy M'Farlane at tho microphone.
