TO-MORROWS FOOTBALL

RUGBY Some interesting matches will be played to-morrow. At;Carisbroow University, A will meet Taieri, and this is expected to provide a keen game. The boys from the plains made Southern go every inch of the way last week, and should be capable of putting up a similar game against Varsity. The Taieri possess some fast, nippy backs, so the public can look forward to an open game. Pirates and Dunedin will meet at 1.30 p.m., and this should also prove a close game. Dunedin showed a. marked improvement last week. Another attraction at Carisbrook will be the mile Postal Cup race, which will be run at half-time in the second match. At Caledonian Southern will meet Varsity B. The latter are a much better side than they have had for some years, and should put up a good game against, the Black-ancl-whites. At Bishopscourt Kaikorai will meet Union, while the match Alhambra v. Zingari at Tahuna Park should prove a wellcontested one. Grandstand patrons at Carisbrook are reminded that admission to the stand enclosure is by the, Burns street gate only. Official guides containing full particulars of teams, players, and other interesting reading matter will be on sale at the Otago Sports Depot, S. Jacobs’s, and at the various grounds. SOCCER Bright football is anticipated to-mor-row, when the fourth series of games in the senior competition for'the Fletcher Cup will be decided. The main fixture, that between Maori Hill and Northern, will be‘Staged at Logan Park. Maori Hill has won all its games to date, whilst Northern has lost one, the defeat being suffered at the hands of Roslyn last week. These teams in ipast seasons have always provided keen football, and there is every reason to expect similar play in Saturday’s game. The other town games are Technical and ißoslyn-Wakari at Ellis Park, and Old Boys and Caversham at Tonga Park. Even contests should be witnessed in these matches, and Seaclitf residents will he provided for in tho visit of the Mornington team to play tho Hospital side.
