(From Our Balclutha Correspondent.)' RIFLE SHOOTING. The weekly shoot of the Balclutha Miniature Rifle Club took place last night, when there was a good attendance and some good form shown. Tosh 62; A. P. Renton, B. Gold 60; G. Bell 52; L. Jory 38. RUGBY UNION. The weekly meeting of the South Otago Rugby Union last night was presided over by Mr J. Lyall. A. Bowmar was granted a transfer from Gatlins Club to Crescent, and was also regraded to second grade. The Otago Union wrote relative to an application from Tahakopa Club to play in Southern District Rugby ‘Football Sub-Union. —Decided to inform the Otago Union that no objection was raised provided Tahakopa and Gatlins Clubs came to a mutual arrangement regarding a boundarv that would not interfere with the Gatlins Club. , , _ . , . Alterations in for Saturday were made as follows owing to the appointed men not being available:—• Toko.-Crescent 1., at Milton, Mr C< Clark; Clutha-Clinton 1.. at Balclutha, Mr L. Edwards; Clutha-Clinton 11., at Clinton, Mr A. Ritchie. Congratulations were extended to Mr J. H. Stevenson on. being elected mayor of Balclutha and to Messrs Lyall (chairman) and Edwards (secretary) on being elected to the Balclutha Borough Council. Q|)EEN CARNIVAL. At a meeting of a commitee of the swimming queen last night arrangements were finalised for the big motor sports to be held on the Balclutha Sports Ground on Saturday, May 28. A letter was received from the motor cycle section of the A.A.O. submitting a programme of events in conjunction with the members of the Motor Car Club, and this was approved. A big challenge chop will also be held, and at night a tug-of-war contest is to bo the attraction. It is ‘ anticipated that these events will attract a large attendance, and a thrilling day and night’s sport is assured all patrons. ,
