Herr Hitler, in a farewell message, expressed his admiration for Italy’s armed forces, and paid a tribute to the efficiency of its aviation. He added that he had enjoyed the visit ns a politician and an artist, and realised the close understanding between Fascism and Nazism. The dictators shook hands and embraced, and waved their hands as the train steamed out via Brenner Pass to Berlin. PREPARATIONS FOR WELCOME HOME BERLIN STREETS ILLUMINATED. BERLIN, May 10. General Goering has issued a proclamation calling on the people of Berlin to receive Herr Hitler on his return from Italy to-night with “ jubilation and rejoicing knowing no bounds;” The streets are illuminated with searchlights and coloured lamps, and will be lined with Storm Troopers with torches. Four hundred trumpeters from the Hitler Youth will herald the train’s entry at the statibn. CONCORDAT WITH VATICAN DENUNCIATION EXPECTED. LONDON, May 10. (Received May 11, at 2 ip.m.) The ‘ Daily Telegraph’s ’ Berlin correspondent says that most likely Herr Hitler will denounce the Concordat with the Vatican as a result of the Pope’s attitude while Herr Hitler was in Italy.
