One of the highlights of the celebrations of the Waitaki Girls’ High School jubilee was the concert, presented at the Opera House yesterday afternoon, by the present pupils. Items by the. choir, a display of dresses and custom* „ of bygone days, drill displays, tableaux, verse speaking, a choral and dancing * number, and a short play were all enjoyed by the large number of ex-pupi'l* present. Much credit is due Mrs W, M'Adam, stage manager, and the other teachers, who trained the girls. On Monday about 35 old girls enjoyed an golf at the private links of Messrs A. J. Grape and R. K. Ireland at Waianakarua, as the guests of Mrs Ireland, MAGISTRATE’S COURT., Ab the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr H. W. Bundle, S. John -Patrick was fined £1 for drunkenness. For being' found in the Georgetown Hotel after hours, James Francis Molloy and William -Arthur Webb were each fined 10s and costs (10s), and Donald William M'Dougall was fined £1 and costs (10s) Rudolph Stanley Draper, licensee of the Georgetown’ Hotel; was fined £1 for sending liquor into the no-license . district of Oamaru without having a written order. For driving a car without a warrant of fitness, James F. Leyden was fined v 10s and costs (10s). For riding a bicycle without a light, Henry D. Thomson was fined 5s and costs (10s). For exceeding 30 m.p.h. in Oamaru, James S. Wootton was fined £1 and costs (10s). For failing to carry a license on a ■goods service vehicle, David M. Tait was ordered to pay costs, 10s. THE ATHEN/EUM. At the monthly meeting of the Oamaru Athenaeum Committee, the librarian (Miss G. Scott Baker) reported that 61 new books had been, added during the month. The number of adult subscribers had in creased.-by 11 and the juveniles by one.- making the total 620. A total of 6,559 books - had been issued during the month- The Book Committee reported the purchase of 21 books. The librarian was complimented on the classification of non- ' books. MINIATURE RIFLES. The best scorers at the weekly shoot of the ' Totara Miniature Rifle Clulb were:—C. Burgess, A. Richardson, J. Richardson, M. Sinclair, D. Seaton 78, J. Kennedy, S. Taylor 77, D.’ Marshall, D. Robb 76. GOLF. The winner of the monthly medal match of the North Otago Ladies-Golf Club was Miss B. Cuthbertson, with the score, 93 (9), 84. A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. The annual report of the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association gives a brief review of the annual show,, which was a great success. The committee had continued improving the show grounds, and the control of the grounds by the North Otago Amateur Athletic Club' during the summer had been very satisfactory. During the year the association lost several old and valued members, including honorary life members, Messrs John Mahoney and 1 George Livingstone. Messrs G. Bruce and D. Rodger and Mrs J. Paton had been elected honorary life members. To mark the sixtieth anniversary of Mr T. - S. Little as an exhibitor, he was entertained at dinner, and presented with an illuminated address. The Oamaru Harbour Board and the Borough Council were thanked for. remission-of rates, and the donors of prizes, judges, officials, the Press, and the Railway and Police Departments were also thanked.
