EARLY SETTLERS

MEETING OF COMMITTEE * The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Early Settlers’ Association was held yesterday afternoon. There were present:—Messrs W. J. Strong (in the chair), E. Webster, H. Baron, D. J. Calder, C. Morris, F. H. Campbell, A. F. Cheyne, E. C, Hazlett, J. Hope, F. W. Knight, J. F. Fraser, and J. A. Paterson.

The following gifts were recieved, and votes of thanks were passed to the donors: —E. J. McNeil, South Invercargill: Framed portrait of his late grandfather, James McNeil, Balclutha, Mooltan, 1849; also mirror which was brought out in the Mooltan in 1849. Jubilee Committee (per Mr W. H. Riddell, hon. secretary); Booklet of the Otago Peninsula Presbyterian Church’s seventieth anniversary (1868-1938). W. Lawrence, aged 77; Nelson. 1863. The following life member was enrolled during the month: —Miss A. H. Barnett, Musselburgh, Dunedin: father.
