The City of Dunedin, with assets valued at anything between three and four million pounds sterling, has built up over years the sum of £400,000 , for the express purpose of replacing worn-out assets such as trams, buses, water mains, and machinery. Despite this, Cr Silvierstone has said: “If the renewal funds were to disappear entirely, that would not indicate unsound finance.” Could anything show more clearly the reckless attitude of the Labour Party in the use of these convenient funds?.
