He proposes to open no conversations with the City Council to continue the tram service as a trolley system to Ravensbourne and Maia, and to approach the (Railway Department to reduce train and bus fares. The speaker added that these improvements would not increase the rates, but should it be found that extra expenditure was necessary the ratepayers would be consulted before any action was taken. Mr Bardsley referred to various matters concerning the Harbour Board, and said that he would be no party to another blot similar to the Lake Logan matter, in which an area of 60 acres or more had been leased to the city for nearly 200 years . for nothing. He would also oppose the placing of oil tanks along the water frontage of the district.
