GRADUAL IMPROVEMENT The following weather forecast was issued at .noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts —Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, OrepukL, Half moon Bay:— A shallow depression is crossing the central portion of the Dominion, the lowest pressures being west of Cock Strait. Steady, light rainfall experienced in Dunedin last evening had dwindled, to a light but penetrating drizzle this morning, when showery conditions‘prevailed. Temperatures were colder , today, though there was only a light north-easterly wind, the maximum thermometer reading at nooni being 60deg and the minimum 48.1 deg. Yesterday, over a period of 24 hours, the respective registrations at the Gardens were 65.8 and 46.7 deg, while the rainfall amounted to .41in. Barometno pressure was steady at ; 29.9in .at noon to-day, when a slight improvement m conditions was noticeable.
