FIVE SITTING MEMBERS CHOSEN LABOUR'S PROGRAMME [?ee United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, February 24. Labour candidatures for the six parliamentary seats in Christchurch have been endorsed by the North Canterbury Labour Representation Committee. Five candidates are the sitting members, and Mr R. M. Macfarlane, the remaining one, contested the Christchurch North seat in 1935. The selected candidates are as follow: Kaiapoi.—Mr C. Morgan Williams. Lyttelton.—Mr T. H. M'Combs. Avon.—Mr D. G. Sullivan. Christchurch East.—Mr H. T. Armstrong. Christchurch South.—Mr E. J. Howard. Christchurch North.—Mr R. M. Macfarlane. All except Mr Macfarlane were nominated by 21 affiliated organisations, and Mr Macfarlane was nominated by 20 organisations affiliated _to the Labour Representation Committee. For the Riccarton seat, held by Mr H. S. S. Kyle, six nominations have been received. The nominees will he asked if they are prepared to accept nomination, and the replies will he considered when the committee meets on March 11. The committee is assisting in arranging for a candidate for the Hurunui seat, held by Mr G. W. Forbes.
