The first meeting for the year was held on Thursday in the schoolroom of the Cargill Road Methodist Church, Mrs Donaldson presiding. Reports of sick or absent members, and apologies were received. Mrs Aburn, vice-presi-dent, being seriously ill, regrets and sympathy were expressed. Mrs Donaldson read an account of the progress >f the women police movement, showing its growth in Great Britain and on the Continent. Correspondence was received and literature distributed from •he Bible-in-schools League showing great progress in that movement, more md more schools coming yearly under tho influence of religious teaching. Adjuration for the excellence of the service drawn up for the use of children .vas expressed. Mrs Donaldson agreed -,o act as representative for the branch .or the ensuing year. Mrs Hayward, secretary, obtained leave of absence for i short holiday. An interesting ■yllabus for the year was drawn up, members discussing it freely.
