At the Caulfield races Pamelus broke a long run of seconds in big events with a brilliant win in the Oattdeigh Plate, £1,500, five furlongs and a-half. The minor place-getters, Amiable and Othello, finished well. Egmont pleased _ his Australian Cup admirers by a victory in the Bond Handicap, £I,OOO, one mile and nine furlongs, in which Le Grand finished well Nuffield stamped himself a great colt by winning a division of the Federal Handicap, £750, five furlongs, with 9.10. Hua outclassed his rivals in the St. George Stakes, £I,OOO, one mile and a furlong. It was his third win in three starts this season. Gustos failed to show up in the Salisbury Welter Handicap, £SOO, one mile, which was won by Irving, ridden by Ashley Reed.
