THE BIRDS BY THE CATHEDRAL

There has been a bird sanctuary behind Liverpool Cathedral for 10 years. It is St. James’s Cemetery, and, though tho cemetery is now to be made into gardens, the authorities'intend to keep the little retreat as a refuge. Over 30 species of birds are known to have haunted this piece of sacred ground in the shadow of the rising cathedral, and at least a dozen species have nested there.
