Along the back Vitaphone put in a bad jump, and Master Anomaly drew out a length and a-half clear from Last Link. Going to the far turn both Top Rank and Superex moved up, and they were just behind Master Anomaly at the second last fence.' After a break through the barrier the field was sent away from a snap start, Astaire and Slayer being the first to show out. At tho end of n. furlong Combat joined Astaire, the pair being just clear of Gusto at the far turn, Astaire and Combat racing together. Combat led into the straight, where Wya, Gusto, and Lochie River made a forward move wide out. Before reaching the distance Combat was in front of Astaire, and won easily by two lengths from Atalanta Lass, who put in a fast finishing run to beat Astaire for second money by a length and a-half.
