MILITARY APPOINTMENTS

LATEST GAZETTINGS Consequent on the reorganisation of the New Zealand Military Forces, a number of transfers and promotions hav© been gazetted. These include the following;— REGULAR FORCES. Major W. I. K. Jennings, D. 5.0., New Zealand Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of general staff officer, Ist grade, and is promoted to the Headquarters, and is general staff officer, Ist grad, and is promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. Major N. W. M‘D. Weir, New Zealand Staff Corps, is promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel, and is graded general staff officer, Ist grade. Major K. L. Stewart, 0.8. E., New Zealand Staff Corps, is given the temporary rank of lieutenant-colonel whilst employed as general staff officer, Ist grade, Southern Military District. Captain A. Bongard, M.C.. New Zealand Staff Corps, area staff officer, Dunedin, is promoted to the rank of major. Captain S. M. Satterthwaite, New Zealand Staff Corps, Commandant of the Military School, Burnham, is promoted to the rank of major. Lieutenant A. P. M'Cormack, New Zealand Staff Corps, Dunedin, is ,promoted to the rank of captain. Lieutenant J. R. Page, Regiment of New Zealand Artillery, Christchurch, is promoted to the rank of captain. Staff-sergeant P. G. Monk, of Christchurch, and formerly of Dunedin, who recently completed a three months’ refresher course at the Army Schnoj at Trentham, has been notified of his appointment to a commission. TERRITORIAL FORCES. Colonel G. R. Mitchell, D. 5.0., V.D., relinquishes command of the 3rd New Zealand Mounted Rifle Brigade, and is posted to the colonels’ list. Colonel S. D. Mason, E.D., relinquishes command of the 3rd New Zealand Infantry Brigade, and is posted to the colonels’ list. Lieutenant-colonel A. S. B. Smith, E.D., the Otago Mounted Rifles, relinquishes command of the regiment and is trasferred to the Reserve of Officers.
