OTAGO WOMEN'S CENTENNIAL COUNCIL
An enjoyable and successful bridge and 500 party, organised by Mrs J. Cooke, was held in the Wilson Hall, King street, on Thursday evening for the purpose of raising funds to meet current expenses of the council. Twenty-eight tables were arranged, and an excellent supper was provided. Tlie prize winners were Miss Seorgie (contract bridge), Airs C. A. Thompson (auction), and Airs George Beath (500). Several donations were also handed in and flowers and cakes sold. As is usual at most of the bridge drives held ,to collect funds for any worthy object, the tables had to he supplied from the homes of the various players concerned, adding considerably to the work involved in organisation. Otherwise the arrangements at the hall were excellent. The council’s thanks are due to all the _ ladies who gave their services so willingly, special recognition being due to Mesdames J. Cooke, J. Sparrow, A, Wyber, and Aliss Z. Hart. Tlie Women’s Centennial Council looks forward to the day when, if their proposed centenary building becomes an established fact, the hall contained therein will accommodate about 60 tables, which will always he in readiness for any private or civic undertaking.
