RACING CLUBS
NEW SOUTH WALES LEGISLATION ABOLITION OF PROPRIETARY INSTITUTIONS. SYDNEY, November 11. Although tho State Government’s proposed new Gaming and Betting Bill, which will be introduced next year, aims at abolishing proprietary racing clubs, it will be competent for new clubs or associations to take over the existing racecourses and operate them on a non-profit basis. Existing clubs will be paid for their assets, but subsequent profits will be used for improving courses, increasing prize _ money, and otherwise furthering the interests of racing. The yearly profits of various proprietary clubs now -operating range between £6,000 and £B,OOO.
