GAVE HIM INDIGESTION When Aid. Sir Harry Twyford imposed a £5 line at Guildhall on a caterer for keeping- a cafe as a betting house, Policesergeaut Tyndall asked for 11s 6d costs. Tho Chief Clerk (Mr Longbottom): What are the costs for? Sergeant Tyndall: Well, sir, for a, cab to bring the pin table to the court, for refreshments consumed in the cafe by me, and for indigestion tablets taken by me after having the cups of tea. The Chief Clerk: You get half the penalty in these cases. You had better take the costs out of that. Sir Harry: I shall make no order for costs, and the money in the machine will go towards the line.
