ARRIVES ON NOVEMBER 26 HAS RIGHT QUALIFICATIONS [By Pistol.] To the enthusiasm of Mr Ben SutE* erland, well-known Wellington busw ness man, is largely due the appoint* raent of a prominent American athletic coach to arrive in New Zealand on No* vember 26. The man appointed is Alfred Fitch,who, at the University of Southern California, specialised in business administration and coaching methods,During the four years he was doing coaching as a special assistant to Mr Cromwell, who had 11 boys in. lasti year’s Olympic team. In 1935 Fitch toured the Orient and tave exhibitions in some of the Far lastern countries. He coached unofficially in the Phillipine Islands for several months. Last year he was ai member of the American team—he anchored the relay team. After that they toured Europe, and at Hamburg Fitch defeated the Olympic 400 metres champion. He won over Luvallein at' the French-Japan meet, competed in the relay match in London and in Oslo.’ He won* the national collegiate* and also competed indoors for a season* Fitch’s record for 100yds is 9 5-lOsec,-for 220yds 20 4-ssec, and for 440yds 4<J 4-ssec.
