NORTH OTAGO SCOTTISH CLUB
ENJOYABLE SOCIAL A happy time was spent at the monthly meeting of the North Otago Scottish Club. After the singing of the club chorus the president (Mrs J. G. Wallace) gave a welcome to the new members and visitors. The programme for the evening was opened with selections from Edgar Barrett’s ‘ Scottish Tone Pictures,’ played by Miss J. Corlett. The principal item during the evening was a one-act play reading, John Brandane’s 1 Rory Aforesaid,’ produced by Mrs J. G. Wallace. The cast was as follows: MacConnachie, Mrs Asher; Duncan MacCallum, Miss Tosh; Rory Mac Coll, Mrs Campbell; Mr Macintosh, Mrs Corlett; the sheriff, Miss Cowan; Mrs Maclean, Mrs Drummond. The play was cleverly enacted, and was well received by the audience. On the motion of Ex-chief R. B. Meek a vote of thanks was passed to the performers. _ Community singing was also much enjoyed, and concluded a successful season.
