CITY IMPROVEMENTS
WORKS APPROVED BY COMMITTEE The Works Committee of the City Council reports that the city engineer has been instructed to act in respect to the following matters: — Improvements at Leven street-City road intersection and at Taieri road, with spoil from the work at Robin Hood quarry at present being earned out by the reserves department. Those works are estimated to cost £2,200, and will he subject to a Government subsidy of £2 5s per man per week. The council’s proportion of the cost will be a charge against the petrol tax vote. Regrading of portion of Pitt street to prepare for the formation of a footway, at an estimated cost of £ls, chargeable to the contingency vote. The following matters have beqn recorded for consideration with the allocations for the next financial year: The sealing of the carriageway at Richmond street with road oil, at an estimated cost of £95. The surface sealing of Melbourne street, between King Edward street and Kirkcaldy street, at an. estimated cost of £2lO.
