CHOIR CONCERT

BAPTIST CHURCH JUBILEE As part of the church’s fiftieth anniversary celebrations at present being held, the South Dunedin Baptist Church Choir rendered a very pleasing concert in the church hall last night. The members sang a number of part songs and anthems in a very effective manner, a •good deal of their success being duo to tho able conductorsbip of Mr C. J. Darracott. Soloists and instrumentalists provided many enjoyable numbers. In addition to accompanying tho choir, the organist, Mrs E. Tyrrell, was heard in a solo in which she amply demonstrated her understanding of the instrument. Tho programme was as follows;—- ‘ God Save tho King’ (soloist Miss V. Todd), choir; anthem, ‘Jesus of Nazareth,’ choir; solo, ‘Old Fashioned Rhymes,’ Miss Gwen Smith; part song, ‘ Londonderry Air,’ choir; cornet solo, Mr G. Christie; humorous part song, ‘ The ■ Pig Tail,’ choir; recitation, ‘Music in tho Bush,’ Miss Norma Brown; part song, ‘All in an April Evening.’ choir; organ solo, Mrs E. Tyrrell; part song, ‘ The Viking Song,’ choir; solo, ‘Old Mother Town,’ Miss Rena Roche; humorous- part song, ‘The Laughing Chorus,’ choir; solo, ‘Love, Hope, and Pray,’ Mr E. Snow; recitation, ‘ Not Understood,’ Miss Joy Knowles; part song. ‘ Comrades in Arms,’ choir; violin solo, Mrs E. S. Tuckwe’ll; part song, ‘Trees,’ choir; solo, ‘ Panis Angelicus,’ Mr Alfred Walmsley (violin obbligato, Mrs E. S. Tuckwell); anthem, ‘ King of Kings,’ choir.
