SALVATION ARMY
MUSIC FESTIVAL ■The grand festival of music, to be held on Saturday, October 23, by the Salvation Army, will be presided over by Lieutenant Commissioner and Mrs F. Adams, who will be supported by Lieutenant-colonels A. Scotney and Church. Two hundred and fifty bandsmen and singers will, participate in the programme, and visiting combinations will include the Christchurch City Band (Bandmaster N. Goffm), the Ashburton Band (Bandmaster G. Argyle), the Waimate Band (Bandmaster T. Rive), the Invercargill Band ((Bandmaster R. Richards), and songster brigades from Waimate (Leader E. Rive) and Invercargill (Leader E. Chisholm). These, with the local bands and songster _ brigades,_ will make up a large musical combination for the festival, which is to be held in the Dowling Street Citadel. Divine service will be conducted by the commissioners on Sunday, and on Monday a united field day and marching display of the bands will bo held at Tahuna Park. The festival will conclude with a grand united musical finale in the Dowling Street Citadel on Monday night.
