STRUGGLE IN WAREHOUSE
DETECTIVE TRAPS AND SECURES INTRUDER [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 9. Seen to enter, the warehouse of Messrs John Burns and Co. Ltd. about 9.30 to-night, a man was followed into the premises by Detective M'Lean. When the man became aware that he was being followed he attempted to escape, and a chase through the building followed. After eluding the detective by dodging around various obstacles, the intruder was eventually trapped, and he then commenced to struggle. In the meantime Detective-sergeant M'ilugh arrived on the scene in a motor car, accompanied by Detectives Moore, Clements, and Hays. On entering the premises, however, they found that the intruder had been taken into custody by Detective M‘Lean after a desperate struggle. In consequence of recent thefts from the premises where the intruder was caught, the building has been under observation by the police, and their perseverance was rewarded when the man was seen to enter.
