WEST HARBOUR AFFAIRS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l agree with “Ratepayer” that it is time that the council kept the grass on Moller Park cut during the summer months. I have noticed that the ground which has been cut during the past three or four years is in much better condition than the other two grounds. Cr Rodger apparently never visited the ground last year, as lie stated that it was kept in first-class order. 1 fail to sec that cutting about one-third of the park is what he terms “ first-class order.” This park, if cut weekly, would be one of the finest grounds in Dunedin, and in winter is considered one of the best Rugby grounds in Dunedin. Surely if the ground was mowed weekly in the summer this could be also said of the park in the cricket season. On making inquiries I find that the Cricket Club pays £1 Is for the use of the ground in summer and the Football Club £3 3s for the use of the ground in winter. I might suggest that the rents in future be: Football Club £lO, Cricket Club £5. I have allotted the lion’s share to the Football Club, as I understand from the Rugby Union’s balance sheet that the O.U.F.U. pays each club’s rent, so this is no hardship for the Ravensbonrne Football Club. This amount should cover expenses in connection with the problem of cutting the grass without getting the council into debt.

i would advise the councillors to use

their heads in this ir-"~ r, and blow Jess hot air around uncil chamber. Maybe if they . 'ey will be mixed up in high finance. 1 would also like to congratulate the Cricket Club on the manner in which it has improved the ground in the past three years.—l am, etc., August 10. Wake Up.
