LOS ANGELES, August 8. (Received August 9, at 11.30 a.m.) Mr Eric Chaseling, who is engaged in a technical survey on behalf of Australian Airlines, interviewed by the* Australian Press, said he believed that the reported attempt of American capital to control Australian air lines would not succeed. The American syndicate was represented in Australia by a Denver mining man, Mr • Seth Terry. It was rumoured that the Americans proposed to buy the majority of the stock in Australian air lines, including Qantas, Empire. Australian National, Macßobertson-Miller, and New Guinea Airways, merging them into a single company. [A message published on Saturday stated: The belief prevails in banking circles that Pan-American Airways are one of the principal backers of the Australian intercapital scheme, “in order to provide a domestic link-up with the Pacific service.” The Australian Associated Press learns that similar rumours have been current in aviation cirples on the Pacific coast for some time. The principal officials of Pan-American Airways refuse to comment, but the New York office said it was without confirmation. The National City Bank categorically denied any connection, financial or otherwise, with the enterprise.]
