KILLING MR RAIDS
NEW BRITISH INVENTION PLANE-PNMF CURTAIN SHIT FROM ROCKETS Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August 6. (Deceived August 7, at 11 a.m.) The * Star,’ referring to Sir Thomas Inskip’s declaration in the House of Commons that Britain has found a means of killing air raids, suggests that , the invention of .Mr Harry Grin-dell-Matthews has been adopted. The invention consists of apparatus for firing rockets carrying : parachutes, each equipped with numerous . strands of milled wire, with fretsaw-like teeth, and of varying lengths from 250 to I,oooft. The parachutes can be released at heights up to 30,000 ft, and would form a pjane-proof curtain, as the sharp wire would cut. the wings and entangle the propellers. Mr Matthews says the apparatus is most mobile, and can be used from any vehicle, from a battleship to a motor car. The rockets take only a few xninutes to fire, and reach 30,000 ft in ■ 25 seconds.
