DAIRY FARMING KING
DEATH Of HR J. J. PATTERBOH [Per United Press Association.] HAWERA, August 7. The death has occurred of Mr J. J. Patterson, of Manaia, reputed to be the largest dairy farmer in th© world, at the age of 79 years. He employed over 30 share milkers in Taranaki and the Waikato, and was the owner of over 3,000 cows. He was cattle droving in South Taranaki at 12 years of age,,.later becoming apprenticed to a blacksmith. He carried ou that trade at Manaia for many years, with dairy farming as a side line. His dairying interests grew to such proportions that he had to devote his full time to their supervision. He took no part in nubile lito, but, on account or his dairying (activities, he was well known th rou ghout the North Island.
