WEATHER FORECAST
GOLD AND UNSETTLED The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, covering the southern districts —Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, -Winton, Invercargill, River-, ton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay 1 ; A trough of low • pressure, ■ with centres to both north and south, is crossing the Dominion. An intense anti-cyclone covers Australia and extends on to the western Tasman Sea.' Forecast: Moderate to strong westerly winds, of gale: force in places, backing shortly to southerlies. Weather cold and unsettled, with rain, and on the high levels snow. Seas rough.. . TEN DEGREES OF FROST. Ten degrees of frost were, recorded at the Gardens last evening, the heaviest for some weeks. Though there was some sunshine yesterday,temperatures were at a. low level during the day, and fell suddenly in the evening, the respective maximum and minimum readings over a period-of 24 hoiim being 48.5 and 32.5 deg. This mornhig saw an improvement, there being bright sunshine in evidence, the sky was clear, and while there was a cold west-south-westerly breeze blowing, temperatures showed a marked increase on those of yesterday,' the readings 'at noon being 51.5 and 45deg. Barometrio pressure in the city at this time was falling at 29.55 in, while every indication was given that the afternoon would bo fin© and warm.
