RUNAWAY MARRIAGE

Married against the wishes of hc< parents on the night before her Jius* hand left Sydney for Auckland, Miss Joan M'Evoy decided to follow by a later vessel. She * arrived by the Awatea to-day, and was met by her husband. Mir “ Chick ” Arnold, comedian in Frank Neil’s Revue Company, which is now playing at Auckland, “It was a runaway marriage,” said Miss M'Evoy to an interviewer. She was president of St. Vincent’s Hospital Younger Set Committee, and met Mr Arnold at a social function at which lie was assisting to raise funds for the hospital. They quarrelled, but met again a few weeks later and became friendly. She was in Brisbane while the company was playing there. _ . “ We were out fishing in Brisbane when we decided to marry,’.’ Mr Arnold; said. “ I literally caught my bride on a fishing line.” . . Both are enthusiastically lookmg forward to a tour of New Zealand ana their subsequent life together.
