STOWAWAY S FARE PASO BY PASSENGERS f Per United Press Association.] .• AUCKLAND, August 3.Stranded iu Australia, and with very little money, and with a letter in his pocket from an Auckland firm of solicitors telling him that he had. been left a small legacy, a middle-aged New Zealander boarded the Union Company’s liner Awatea and stowed away. When it was reported soon after the ship left port that he was on board, he explained the circumstances which had caused him'to evade the officers at the gangway, and inquiries sent .to Auckland from mid-ocean resulted in his case • being brought to the notice of some passengers, who paid his fare. Tho traveller was allowed to land with the other passengers when thb - Awatea arrived at Auckland to-day. He later paid a visit to. the solicitors concerned. -It was stated that the legacy was not very substantial, but that it was enough to induce the man to reach Auckland as soon as possible. ,
