AUSTRALIAN DUAL STRIKE MEN ADOPTING DEFIANT ATTITUDE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY. August 3. Tho Coal Conference has not yet reached a settlement, and will he ''resumed to-night. The miners at the Broken Hill Proprietary Collieries did not resume work to-day, as agreed yesterday, and along with the men from some other pits are adopting a defiant attitude. CONFERENCE ADJOURNS SYDNEY, August 3. Tho Coal Conference adjourned until Tuesday next to enable the mine owners to consult individual proprietors upon the wage proposals of the miners’ delegates. These include restoration of the 12i per cent, wage cut imposed in 1930 and an increase of 5 per cent, in the wages of “off hands.” The Miners’ Council will meet tomorrow to decide whether the sectional strikes now in operation at the Broken Hill and other pits shall be discontinued pending the outcome of tho present negotiations. It is reliably reported that the Miners' Council will also complete the plan for a general strike in the event of a collapse of the negotiations.
