ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
RAILWAY CROSSING COLLISION. As the result of a collision between a train from Tuatapere and a motor car at the railway crossing at the foot of Victoria Avenue, near the Borstal Institution, yesterday, injuries to the head were suffered by the driver of the car, Leslie Collett, aged 15, and he was admitted to the Southland Hospital. At the time of tho accident Collett was bringing the car, a new one, from the Drill Hall, where it had been stored. The side of the motor car which received the impact was badly damaged, and the interior at the front also suffered considerably, although the fact that the car was equipped with safety glass and was probably held upright by the cowcatcher of the engine undoubtedly saved the driver from more serious injury. CRUSHED BETWEEN LORRIES. A Wellington Association message states that the transport driver J. K. M'Leavy, who was admitted to Wellington Hospital last Thursday suffering from severe internal injuries as the result of an accident, died last night. M'Leavy. who resided at 85 Tasman street, was crushed between two lorries. FRACTURED NOSE. Whilst chopping wood at her home, Martha Box, a resident of Port Chalmers, was struck by a piece of wood which fractured her nose. She was admitted to the Hospital at 7.4 S pan.
