NATIONAL PARTY. A meeting of the Policy Committee of the National Party was held to-day, the Hon. Adam Hamilton presiding. The meeting was preliminary to a party caucus tomorrow and Friday. On Monday next Air Hamilton will leave on a tour of the East Coast districts. He will be at Hastings on the Monday evening, Gisborne on Tuesday, Ruatoria on Wednesday, and Wairoa on Thursday.—Wellington Press Association.
TAXI DRIVERS’ COAIPLAINT. All but a few taxi drivers in Auckland are blacklisting the arrival platform at the Auckland railway station, contending that the special annual license fee of £1 which entitles them to await the arrival of trains is excessive. A few drivers, mostly independent owners, have renewed their licenses, which expired on Alay 31, but the others express their determination to refrain until a reduction of the charge is made.— Press Association. On June 5 the total males wholly or partly dependent on the employment promotion fund was 35,839, against 3-1,218 at Alay 8, au increase of 1,621 and a reduction of 17,195 against June 6 of last year.
