FATE OF B STATIONS
NINE DF TWEKTY-DHE PURCHASED SUBSIDY ISSUE CSMES NEXT [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 29.. Out of 21 B stations operating in the Dominion the Government has purchased nine, and the indications are that it will be able to take over a few more, according to a statement by the Acting Minister in Charge of Broadcasting (the Hon. F. Jones), in an interview. “ By Saturday we shall know the position regarding the others, and when we get that information,” said Mr Jones, “ wo shall discuss the question of what stations should be subsidised and to what extent. That, of course, refers only to the ones we do not purchase, and it will take some time.”
Mr Jones repeated the. assurance that there was no compulsion on the part of the stations to sell,
