The Washington correspondent of the New York ‘ Times ’ says that high Government officials are expressing concern over the growing number of Russian aeronautical _ engineers and mechanics who are being sent to the United States by the Soviet Government. These Russians are being admitted to key plants in the United States aviation industry, and are taught American methods, which is one of the conditions under which the Soviet is buying planes. Officials point out that the action of the companies is short-sighted, tliey are giving away an advantage which look years, plus Government help, to acquire. Russians purchased aeronautical products valued at 900,000 dollars from the United States in the first four months in 1937.
