THE DOOR OPEN

m BAR TO BRITISH IMMIGRANTS MUCH MISUNDERSTANDING OH SUBJECT [Per United Press Association.] NAPIER, June 28. “ There is nothing to prevent any person of British birth and parentage, being of European race and colour, from coming into New Zealand for permanent residence, subject to the usual conditions as to health and character,” states the Hon. W. E. Barnard, M.P., president of tho New Zealand Five Million Club. “ There appears to be so much misunderstanding on the subject that it is necessary to state what tho law is. Special restrictions _ were imposed by tho Immigration Restriction Amendment Act, 1931, but this Act has now expired. While the New Zealand authorities naturally do not desire to see British people coming hero without adequate resources, no bona fide British migrant from the Old Country will be prevented from landing on our shores. Large-scale immigration is, of course, a matter upon which the Governments must be consulted, but for individual immigrants who are of British stock as defined above the way into New Zealand is open.” Mr Barnard added that intending immigrants from Great Britain would be well advised to consult reliable sources before completing their plans to migrate to the Dominion. The Five Million Club would be pleased to furnish on request the necessary information or advice.
