A CHEMIST’S DEATH. Alexander Robert M'Dowoll, of Worcester street, who was found unconscious in Hagley Park this morning, died in the hospital later. M'Dowell was a chemist, and had been missing since yesterday.—Christchurch Press Association. ■ SCHOOLBOY INJURED. Head injuries were suffered by Murray Pollock, who lives with his parents at 6 Ohau street, when he was knocked down by a motor car as he was coming out of school to-day. He was admitted to the Hospital at 1 p.m. KILLED IN MOTOR SMASH. Mononui Tareha, aged 24, was killed in a motor smash at Taradale (Hawke’s Bay) at 5 o'clock yesterday morning. Two persons, Tareha and G. James, were in a lorry proceeding from town, when the vehicle got out of control. It literally wrapped itself round a power pole, bringing down all the wires. Tareha was killed outright, probably having his neck broken. James was later taken to the hospital in a serious condition. COLLAPSE AT WORK. Mr P. Athea, a member of the staff of the ‘ Evening Post ’ stereotype department (Wellington), collapsed at work and died on his way to hospital on Saturday. Mr Athea had completed 21 years’ service with the ‘ Evening Post,’ and had previously served in the stereotype department of the Christchurch ‘ Press ’ for 22 years. Ho was 60 years of ages. He leaves a widow and three sons. LESION OF THE HEART. At the inquest on Gordon Trevor Buchanan (15), whoicollapsed and died during a school football match at Tapanui on Wednesday, the evidence showed "that the cause of death was a valvular lesion of the heart, and that some two veats ago deceased was warned by a doctor not to play football. A verdict according with the medical evidence was returned. ACUTE HEART FAILURE. An inquest was held this morning into the death of Richard Talbot Davis, aged 38 years, who was found lying in the back yard of 42 Glasgow street, where he was a hoarder, on _ the night of June 19. Deceased was a single man. Dr E. F. D’Ath, who conducted a post mortem examination, testified that death was due to acute heart failure, and Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., returned a verdict accordingly. CONCUSSION AND HEAD INJURIES. Concussion and head injuries were suffered by William Jenkins, who resides at 596 Castle street on Saturday night. He was struck by a motor car whilst passing over the intersection of Cargill and Albert streets, and was admitted to the Hospital at 11.30 p.m. BOY II4JURED. Shortly after midday yesterday a boy, Ross Smith, was admitted to the Hospital in an unconscious condition. The injured boy, who lives at 54 Howe street, was knocked off his bicycle by a motor car as he was passing over the intersection of Hanover and Cumberland streets. His condition is not serious. Nancy Murray, residing at 52 Law street, was admitted to the Hospital early this afternoon suffering from an injury to the left knee, received when she was knocked down by a motor cyclist on the Anderson’s Bay road.
