CHESS IN AUSTRALIA
PURDY WINS CHAMPIONSHIP Press Association—By Telegraph -Copyright ADELAIDE, June 28. (Received June 28, at 1.5 p.m.) C. Purdy defeated M. Goldstein in tho play-off for the Australian chess championship, winning three of six games. Goldstein won one and the other two were drawn. This match became necessary as the result of a quadruple tie between Purdy, Goldstein, Koshnitsky, and Hastings. Previously Purdy had defeated Koshnitsky and Goldstein had defeated Hastings.
