FAREWELL 4ZL.

TO THE EDITOR. . Sir, —To hundreds of people yesterday was indeed a day of deep regret as we listened to the final broadcast from 4ZL. For many years this station has provided programmes which have been a joy to listen to, and has set a standard which none of the national stations have over reached. I refer very specially to the evening classical transmissions and the beautiful programmes on Sunday mornings. I know, from personal experience, that this station, by its splendid choice of items, has brought comfort to many, and especially to those lying on beds of sickness in hospitals and in their own homes. It is too much to ask if the national service will make use of the programmes put over by 4ZL and occasionally give ones of a similar nature By doing this it will earn the deep gratitude of many listeners. I cannot close without expressing my gratitude to the owner and staff of this grand little station, for tho many hours of keen enjoyment they have provided during tho past 10 years.—l am, etc., Often Cheered. Juno 27.
