MR BALDWIN'S SON-IN-LAW
Mr Arthur Howard, the Prime Minister's son-in-law. who. has provided Mp 1 Baldwin with the house in Eaton square where he will live'now that he has left Downing street, is mayor of Westminster. At one time Mr Howard, who is a brother of Lord Strathcona, contemplated a career in national politics, and was adopted as prospective candidate for Peckham in 1927. | He decided, however, to concentrate ! on local government work. Mr Howard has sat on the Westminster City Council for 12 years. He has been chairman of the Law and Parliamentary, Com* mittee and of the Finance Committee.He shares, says the London ' Daily; Telegraph.' with Mr Baldwin an interest in the countryside. Dairy farming is his hobby. Two years ago ha visited Australian and New Zealand and brought back several new ideas for the management of his Guernsey herd at Wappinghorn, Sussex.
