LIBEL AND SLANDER ACTION REGRET EXPRESSED FOR STATEMENTS. Frew Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, June 24. In regard to the libel and slander action, the Australian Provincial Assurance Association Ltd. v. the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society Ltd., it has now been disclosed that, when the matter came before Acting Justice Owen on Tuesday, the defendant’s solicitor, Mr R. C. Cook, read a notice and an apology in which the _ Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society Ltd. withdrew and repudiated all the statements published in the railways journal, ‘ Railroad,’ and expressed regret for them. " In addition, the defendants acknowledge that the < Australian Provincial Assurance Association Ltd. “ is one of the companies approved by the Railways Commissioners for the group assurance of its employees.”
