'LADY PRECIOUS STREAM ’

'fbe Otago University Dramatic* Society will present ns its first major 'production for the year the famous Chinese play by S. I. Hsiung—‘ Lady Precious Stream.’ The first performance will he given to-night, and it will be repeated to-morrow night, in Allen Hall. ‘ Lady Precious Stream ’ is a plav in four acts, the scene changing—but only in the audience’s imagination—from one part of the Prime Minister’s garden to 'another, to the ■western regions, and to the humble cave of Hsieh, Ring Kuei and Lady Precious Stream. The play is staged in the traditional manner of the Chinese threatre. but the consequent absence of pleasing stage scenery is more than balanced by the brilliant and colourful costumes. The leading players are Doris Craig and Henry Williams, with Ngaire Glue. Eric Charteris. Lydia. Henderson, Moya Ripley, Norma Bain, Jack Allen, and Ernest Duncan also taking major parts. The producer is Mrs O. C. Stephens.
