An increase of 3jd in the £ in the aggregate of the municipal rates for the current year was decided upon by the City Council to-night. The* rate for the year just closed was 3s Hid, so that the figure-for the current ,year will be 4s 3id. The total annual rateable value for 1937-58 ,of all 1 property on the city valuation roll is £2,673,305. The rates for this year are follow, those struck last year being given, in parentheses:—General (including sanitation), Is lOd (Is 6Jd>; library.
