AMOUNT OF MEDICAL EXPENSES HELD TO BE TOTALLY INADEQUATE “ That the question of the totally inadequate amount of medical expenses paid to an injured worker under the Workers’ Compensation Act he brought under the notice of the members of Parliament on the board, with a view to their placing the matter before the Government with the object of having same substantially increased,” was a recommendation from the Standing Committee to the Harbour Board last night. Mr D. Copland said it was a pity that the board did not decide to send its resolution direct to the Minister. Mr A. Campbell, M.P., said he had been fighting for the same object for 24 years, while Mr J. W. Munro, M.P., had probably been striving for increased expenses over a longer period. “ The Government intends to deal with this,” said Mr Munro. The chairman (Mr W. Begg) said he was in touch with “ another local body,” and ho hoped at the next meeting of the board to submit a combined resolution to bo sent to the local members of Parliament and the Ministers concerned. The recommendation was adopted.
