HUNTER ESTATE CASE
ALLECHED CARELESS MANAGEMENT [Per United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, June 25. In the Hunter estate case to-day,-Detective-sergeant Lea Revell, of Hastings, said he visited the estate on more than one occasion in consequence of complaint by Lady Hunter that skins and wool were buried there. He examined some dumps of sand dunes on the sea side of the estate, and took specimens of sheepskins protruding from the sand. He and others uncovered some loose wool and sheepskins, taking two or three hours to dig the sand away. They took possession of a lot of wool weighing more than, llowt, and it was now in a Wellington store. * Witness said that Percy Hunter explained that two or three years ago tha station manager (Cowan) collected a number of skins about the place which had become weevil infested, and had to be dumped. That accounted for ona of the dumps, but not for two others, about which Percy Hunter said ha could make no explanation. The station manager explained that the skin* in the second dump had been mutilated by a plague of rats. Witness gave evidence of other skins he saw in the skia shed and on the fences.,
