THE MARCUS SHOW

ENTERTAINMENT OF HIGH VALUE Bevue, spectacular, colourful, rapid, and immensely entertaining, of a type never before seen in New Zealand delighted another larae audience at the Marcus Show in His Majesty’s Theatre last night. The Marcus Show ia living up to its reputation for being novel and fast-moving. It is in a class, for presentation and entertainment ' value, unexcelled by any other com* pany to visit Dunedin, being, perhaps, the nearest approach to the Ziegfield Follies or the Folies Bergeres likely to be seen in this country for; many years. The enormous cost of the Marcus Show can be appreciated only by those who see the three hours, which pass all too rapidly, of brilliant entertainment. The mounting is bewildering, glamorous, and artistic; the flocking is charmingly decorative; and the company is an assemblage of stars. Gapping all, is the precision and deftness behind the scenes. The technique of the stage managers is something to marvel 1 at. Scenes. of ambitions proportions in magnificence are whisked on and • off-, with technical perfection a' J.he =how runs its swift -course ■ through th<?‘ - gamut of action, song, music, and . dance. The specialty' acts are all "headliners,” and their diversity makes it impossible to say who exactly is the star of the show. Dancing, from the eccentric to the delicate waltz, is staged before backgrounds of movement by the bevy of attractive girls- and sophisticated humour of a quick-firing style is served with a racmess that keeps the audience iu the merriest of moods. The Marcus Show has unusual strength, and quality, and as a < theatrical event it should not be missed. The present programme will be presented throughout this week, and on Monday, ‘ (Broadway Vanities ’ will open its three nights’ season.
