RUGBY
TRAINING COLLEGES TIE The annua! Rugby match between tho Dunedin and Christchurch Training Colleges, played at tho University Oval yesterday afternoon, resulted in a pointless draw. Tho visitors had the bettor of tho game, duo mainly to poor passing and weak bade play by the local team. The ground was in very bad order. The teams were ; Dunedin.—Sim. M'Kiimey, Kirby, Morrison, Maslin. Eadzion, Nimmo, Familton, M'Naughton, Middlemass, Tither, Ledlie, Keating, Soper, Thomson. Christchurch.—Malone. O’Rorko, Cartwright, W. Wcenink, Hayward, Harvey, R. Weenink, Tritt, Mullinder, Prosser, Campbell, Anderson, Billcliff, Corstorphine, Holmes. The visitors dominated play during the first spell, and with the exception of a few unproductive excursions into Christchurch territory, play remained in the home team’s half. Both teams strove to open up play, but a greasy ball and tho state of the ground made all attempts abortive. Early in tho spell M‘Kinney was replaced by Hurting, who later gave place to Donaldson. Dunedin forced play in the opening stages of the second half, and the game settled down to become more even. The home team carried the ball dangerously near the visitors’ line more than once, but were effectively blocked by a sound defence. Towards the end. the game became more of a midfield mud scramble, with individual play, and the final whistle sounded with no score. Mr G. Taylor was the referee. INTERISLAND MATCH [Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 23. The executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union decided to-night to have the teams for the North-South Island match on July 10 selected on the evening of June 30.
