MAGANDREW BAY ORPHANS
The fortnightly meeting of the Macaudrew Bay Orphans' Club, in the Macandrew Bay Hall last evening, took the form of a travelogue night, a large attendance of members being presided over by the president (Bro. G. F. Bewley). The initiation of several new members was carried out by the president (Bro. G. F. Bewley) and past president (Bro. D. Maider), and in his remarks Bro. Bewley referred to the steady growth of the club. At every meeting this season new members had been initiated, and the membership now stood at 00, with several more to be admitted. In extending a welcome to the new members Past President Bro. D. Maider expressed his pleasure that they included Bro. C. J., L. White, who had for two years been president of the Dunedin Orphans Club, during which time he had given considerable assistance to tho Macandrew Bay Oi’phans Club. ' The president made a presentation to the immediate past president (Bro. D. Maider) of his two years’ bar. Bro. Bewley stated that Bro. Maider had conducted the business of the club very ably, and was the only president of the club to have two years’ service as president. In replying, Bro. Maider paid a tribute to the work of Bro. D. F. AVhitburn as secretary. The outstanding feature of the evening was a travelogue talk given by Mr J. Kennedy, who traversed the scenic wonders of Now Zealand, and appealed to members to do all they could to further the popularity of New Zealand’s scenic charms. A musical programme was presented, one of the most enjoyable features being the numbers given by tho Macandrew Bay Orphans Club Orchestra. Bro. P. White rendered a song, and a saxophone solo was given by Bro. Vin. Dackers. Bro. It. T. Harington gave a banjo solo, and Bro. Colin Macandrew a violin solo. Bro. L. Tyrie played the accompaniments.
